For the first time since 1975, our deputes off all parties without any exception join together to discuss alone, without any foreign influence, about the future of our Lebanon. 14 march forces, Aoun forces, Amal, and Hezbollah, will meet to talk about our o****ries issues, and how to solve them. Mutual understanding is supposed to save our country. Ifi this discussion works out, it will make our national unity shine again, and a strong country can feel free and confident to progress toward the future, knowing that we all know how to dialogue ! Inshallah such agreement can be reached. I think it is the most important issue for now : mutual support, and unity. Even more than the presidential scandal, which will be solved very very fast and with lucidity onceo ur unity and understanding is reached. Nshallah Kheir... 8 days of suspense... |

Dear Fraizzze, I share your hopes but I hate to dampen your enthusiasm by my lack of trust in all those meeting for the so-called dialogue. On another hand, Mr. Jumblatt and Mr. Hamadeh will arrive in the US on March 5. So we do not have to wait 8 days... At most 3 days before the dialogue parties break apart. |

I'm being optimistic. For the first time, they do something constructive. |

بدأت الجولة الثالثة للحوار في مبنى مجلس النواب بغياب وليد جنبلاط ومروان حماده
Well here you are!!! They left when serious discussions are about to begin. In politics this is called, leaving a back door open to overthrow the table later.
I have seen these same faces, or their fathers or their sons, meet time and again and forgive me if I am not disillusioned by what they can achieve.
I wish them good luck, but I reserve the right not to be concerned by what they agree upon. |

In the current lebanese situation, i see absolutely no other way of making our country a better place without such dialogue between our different parties... We cannot live in a country where every party takes a completely opposite direction from the other... We need mutual understanding and we must consider other parties revendications, and this dialogue is the basis of all this. It is our only hope... It really must work out... No matter what decisions we take, the country has to take 1 united direction, for the 1st time sine 1975! We need a political unity.. When Saniora says something it has to reflect the LEBANESE opinion, and not 1 or 2 parties opinion. The same think applies for our president (whoever he is). Nshallah this unity will becone concrete these next days... I understand your pessimism Truth Squad, but the events show a lot of optimism... We need to believe in such unity to make it real. Fred |

Dear Fred, I commend you on your optimisim and enthusiasm for the so-called dialogue among the current leaders in Lebanon. Part of me, deep inside, share with you the hope and pray for their success, but my rational mind cautions me against that: "haven't you learned from history?" it hinted. They are a bunch of blood/money thirsty mongers and can never be part of a positive future. The only way to peace, my dear Fred, is to overthrow the table over the heads of all sitting around it and bring in the people, the real people who are looking for food, shelter and work, the real people who share the agony of war, poverty and oppression. Among those there is no room for religious strife and bickering, there is no room for fights and wars and their goal is only peace and a time-off to rebuild their lives. Look at them, pontificating everyday about their role in history. It is our history, not theirs to make. It is our country to preserve not theirs to fight over and it is our government an dour parliament and we should have access to the records. It is our right to know what they discussed and they faught over. Keep the torch of hope lit but do not expect too much from the warlords and the thieves of Beirut and their children. |
