Dana and Jean, I specifically said that my comments were not directed at Lebanese Jew for a reason.

However, if you wish to bring the Lebanese Jews into this context, then by all means I shall. Lebanon is open to all, and universal human rights as well as civil liberties needs to be enforced in Lebanon. However, there are current NATIONAL circumstances that need to be respected.

Lebanon does not recognise the existence of the state of Israel.

Lebanon is officially at a state of war with Israel.

A Lebanese citizen is prohibited from establishing relations with Israel.

These are three important articles that are bounded by Lebanese law. If Lebanese Jews desire to be subject to Lebanon and its laws, then that includes the above. If they have no problem with that, then they can live happily ever after, there are no objections. I was just insisting that these important factors be reminded instead of ignored, which is what you both have done.

Jean, during the Lebanese Civil War there was no stable government, no centralised authority, no set of laws that could have been applied to all within Lebanon. Therefore, bringing up 1975 - 1990 is irrelevant to this discussion.

Reformist -

I understand what you are saying, but it seems we're having 2 separate discussions here.

When discussing Lebanon's policy on its citizens having ties with Israel is one discussion. Here we have 1 person who happens to be Lebanese and of Jewish faith asking a few questions in light of Syria's withdrawal from the country. I don't see anything in her opening statement discussing her ties to Israel and how would that impact her coming back to Lebanon or not. That was simply my point.

May be you felt the need to point this out when Lebanese Jew mentioned at some point that she would not get involved in a war between Israel & Lebanon or any other war because she's anti-war in general. I dunno...

I hope others, including Lebanese Jew could come back in this discussion and reconfirm this. Quite honestly I have nothing more to say on the subject, as I believe I had made my point clear and have conveyed my personal message on this subject.
