People who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it.
What just happened in Lebanon?
Why were we all up together decrying Hariri's assassination and demanding "Syria out"?
Why were we all demanding change?
What happened? Did anything change?
Not really! Aside from Syria pulling its troops out because the USA and Europe forced it to, nothing else changed. The same old Syrian regime is back in power.
What went wrong? Were there any mistakes?
How can we learn from our mistakes in order not to repeat them?

change would be long-term.

you have to change the mentality of the people. Believe it or not, those so-called leaders are a representation of our people's backward mentality. We're a nation that lacks any sort of self-criticism; how would you expect us to get better.

Sadly our history has no yet been put in a history museum and locked up, for us to look at and learn from. The same old faces are still out there playing the game on the field. Therefore, its not history, its still the present. And what’s worse, it’s the people’s choice!

Gisele, good point.
Unfortunately as long as we have fanatics in our society who can be dragged to think and vote behind a blind master, we will never learn.
Iask you: was it a mistake to have the elections now?
